Kate Jasper and Dr. Robert Shepherd from the Seaforth Family Health team met with our Gr. 4/5 and 6 students today. They shared with us an awesome presentation on mental health and wellness. They talked about mental health, physical health, how the parts of the brain works and how stress impacts our brain. We also learned about how the brain reacts to stressful situations, what events in our life might cause us worry or stress and what we can do to reduce our stress and build our resilience. It was a fantastic presentation and we hope to have them back again in the Spring to present to students and families. Ask you child what they learned about the lizard brain or how distraction, even concentrating on a yoga balance pose can help your brain “shift”.
