Home of the Dolphins

Welcome to Downie Central Public School. We are located on a spacious ten acre parcel of land in the Downie Ward of the Township of Perth South, halfway between Stratford and St. Marys. Our student population presently sits at approximately 285.

All students are encouraged to participate in various aspects of our school in a positive manner. Sports and clubs await the participation of our students, and I encourage them to try out for teams and participate in areas in which they are interested, as this only enhances their educational experience.

Academic achievement, continuous improvement, and positive citizenship continue to be our chief areas of concentration in the school year.

We take pride in the wonderful relationships that have been established over a number of years with various community organizations, such as the Downie Optimist Club, and the Home and School Council. Their support is always greatly appreciated.

As mentioned, students are offered a wide variety of opportunities here at Downie, including extra-curricular activities, sports, and opportunities for students to demonstrate their leadership skills and foster their sense of citizenship. Downie “Spirit Days”, our annual Terry Fox Day, and our annual Spring Festival are but a few examples of these opportunities.

At Downie Central, we are very proud of our school, of our students, and of the great people who work, volunteer, and are involved in any way in our school community. I thank everyone for their dedication, and invite you to come and pay us a visit. You will receive a warm welcome. All the best to everyone in our community!

Bevan Moir, Principal.
