Mrs. McDade’s Message
On April 28 we will say goodbye to Ms. Lisa Cairncross as she has been placed at as a Vice Principal in a Stratford school, much closer to her home. Although she was only with us for a short time, she made an impact on the staff and students with whom she worked. We wish her all the best in her new position!
On May 1, Mr. Stefan Schneider will join the Clinton Public School team as our Acting Vice Principal for May and June. Mr. Schneider comes to us from Shakespeare Public School. As our Vice Principals have done in the past, he will have teaching and administrative responsibilities, and will oversee our after school tutoring program. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Schneider to CPS.
Our SCHOOL Student Survey
New this Spring, all elementary and secondary students from Grades 4 to 12 in the Avon Maitland District School Board will be participating in an online survey for students called the “Our SCHOOL Student Survey.” This survey is similar to the School Climate Survey that the Ministry of Education has required schools to complete every two years. Parents should be aware of the following:
● Students share their feedback anonymously on their experiences at school, school environment and school improvement programs.
● Participation in the survey is voluntary, however all students are encouraged to participate.
● The time required to complete the survey may vary, but it is designed to be completed in approximately 30-35 minutes. The survey will be done under the supervision of teachers, and accommodations will be made for students who require them.
● The survey will provide a glimpse into students’ experiences and capture students’ feedback around their sense of belonging, wellness, and issues related to bullying in their school.
● The key topics connect directly to the AMDSB strategic plan, which emphasizes maximizing student outcomes, and providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Survey measures include such topics as behaviours and attitudes linked to student success, emotional and social well-being and physical health.
For more information about the Our SCHOOL Student Survey, please visit www.thelearningbar.com and feel free to direct any questions to Mrs. McDade. We will complete the survey between May 9th and 12th.

Late Again?
We have a number of students arriving to school late each morning. We understand that occasionally something interferes with arriving on time, but we have concerns when lateness becomes habitual.
The entry bell rings at 8:45 a.m. each morning, and attendance is taken at 8:50 a.m. The middle door in the school courtyard by the washroom stays unlocked until the 8:50 bell. For safety reasons, students should not be arriving through the front door unless they are past the 8:50 a.m. bell. Immediately following attendance, there are morning announcements for the school, then each class begins its day, usually by organizing and introducing the day’s activities. This is important learning time for your child, and sets the tone for success. When your child arrives late, he/she not only misses out on important routines and information, but may disrupt the classroom learning of others.
We appreciate your efforts in teaching, encouraging and setting an expectation for promptness in your child’s daily routine. In the event that your child after the 8:50 a.m. bell, he/she is expected to enter the school by the front door, and report to the office for safe arrival.
Thanks for your assistance in making learning run smoothly.
